Bruins Ruin (Beartown)

Bruins Ruin
Name: Bruins Ruin
Label: "Made in Cheshire"
Brewery: Beartown Brewery
ABV: 5.0%

Rating: Deep copper coloured strong bitter.  Full of character and dry lingering hoppy finish. Bruin means "bear" in some foreign language or other.  This is the last of the bear related beers that I could find in Asda. It was fun while it lasted.

Game: Remember 1988? An awesome game came out called Splatterhouse which everyone used to talk about. I played it. Twas indeed awesome.  Now I have the 2010 reboot.  It didn't rate too well but it's great button-mashing fun and as gory as heck. It gets the thumbs up from me and then the thumbs are removed and used as weapons to gouge your brains out with. Fantastic looking levels and more blood than you can shake a bloody stump at, 7/10

Polar Eclipse (Beartown)

Polar Eclipse
Name: Polar Eclipse
Label: "Made in Cheshire"
Brewery: Beartown Brewery
ABV: 4.8%

Rating: Rich creamy smooth stout with light hoppy notes and a dry bitter finish. Did you know that there are no polar bears in the South Pole? It's called the Antarctic because "arctic" is foreign for "bear" and the "ant" bit of the word means "anti" or "no / non" so overall it means "no bears" or something. Genius.

Game: Finally finished Oblivion! It took about 60 hours - I probably could have done a degree or created a work of art in that sort of time.  Never mind eh?  Anyway, what a superb game (9/10 by the way), it's certainly whetted the dungeon crawling appetite for Skyrim later on in the year or next year or whenever the heck it comes out. For now though it's time to start on the Shivering Isles expansion pack and tie up some loose ends on a couple of outstanding side missions if I can be arsed.

Kodiak Gold (Beartown)

Kodiak Gold
Name: Kodiak Gold
Label: "Straw coloured well balanced and very drinkable"
Brewery: Beartown Brewery
ABV: 4.0%

Rating: Apparently Congleton was famous for bear baiting which took place at the fairs within the town.  In 1632 the bear warden had insufficient funds to purchase a bear, so to avoid the inevitable lynching it was decided to buy a bear with money that had been put aside to buy a new Bible for the town hall.  The brewery is proud to support Animals Asia Foundation's - Moon Bear Rescue.

Game: Just being playing Oblivion and on and on and on. It appears to be never ending. That is all. 9 out of 10

Bearskinful (Beartown)

Bearskinful
Name: Bearskinful
Label: "Congleton rare sold the Bible to buy a bear"
Brewery: Beartown Brewery
ABV: 4.2%

Rating: Woo, new ales at Asda!  Priced at a quite staggering £2.02 though. And what does that tag line on the label mean? Must buy more for research purposes...

Game: A lot of time has passed since the last post. In that time I've unlocked a mega-load of Oblivion achievements and downloaded the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood expansion pack known as The Da Vinci Disappearance. SPOILER ALERT: Da Vinci goes missing and you have to find him by collecting paintings. Sounds shit, but its really good, 8 out of 10.

Kentish Ale (Shepherd Neame)

Kentish Ale
Name: Kentish Ale
Label: "Traditional ale - Floral & citrussy aromas with rounded hoppy notes - Smooth & fruity with crisp refreshing flavours"
Brewery: Shepherd Neame
ABV: 4.5%

Rating: Brewed using a single hop variety, Earlybird. And we all know what the early bird caught don't we? Yeah, fresh floral aromas.

Game: Had a nasty bout of flu so no gaming for three whole nights! Boo! Hiss! etc etc. Anyway I manned up and fully recovered, and what's this cheeky little thing I spy on Xbox Live? Only Dead Space 2 DLC! Woo! Hurrah! etc etc. So for about £4.50 I got Severed.  And like anything to do with Dead Space it's great. 8/10.
